With his group Imagination Leee John visited South Africa in the 1990s, and the experience affected him deeply. The warmth of the people, their hospitality, their love of art and music: despite the suffering that communities had endured, their strength and dignity was undefeated.
Ten years later Leee returned to South Africa, with his powerful earlier experiences in mind. His visit to Thornton, outside Cape Town, was to see at first hand the work of the charity SOS Children, which has established one of its Children's Villages there. SOS Children is a worldwide organisation that exists to help children who have been orphaned by war, poverty, AIDS and other diseases, and natural disasters. During his stay Leee kept a diary and took many photographs. This very personal story is captured in his beautifully illustrated full colour new book, From Within The Heart - which captures not only the unique atmosphere of Thornton but also the spirit of South Africa.
All royalties after expenses from the sale of From Within The Heart are being donated to SOS Children.
SOS Children
SOS Children is the world's largest orphan and abandoned children charity. Supported by sponsors and donors worldwide, it provides a new family (in amazing Children's Villages) for over 60,000 children in 123 countries, and helps almost a million more people through its projects around the world.SOS Children's main role is helping children whose parents are not there for them. They may be AIDS orphans, street children, child soldiers or children orphaned by war, poverty or natural disasters. We give these children a mother and a family in a home within an SOS Children's Village. In places where there is a high rate of child abandonment, we run programmes to help strengthen vulnerable families and keep them together.

Author's Biography
Leee has been 25 years in the music industry. As the front man of the world famous 80s soul funk group Imagination he had worldwide hits like Body Talk, Just an Illusion, Music and Lights, and In and Out of Love to name a few. Leee's solo success in the 90s included The Mighty Power of Love - number 2 in the US Billboard Hot 100 and Mind Body and Soul - the 2nd best selling UK garage hit of 2000.
