Quick Overview

Spider Webb, aka Kenneth Rice, began playing drums at an early age in his home town of Detroit. Before leaving the motor city, he recorded with United Artists and Holland-Dozier-Holland in his early teens.

He moved to New York in 1967 where he quickly gained prominence as a studio drummer, and was hired on the spot by the late great recording artist King Curtis.

The next high point in his career was when he became the drummer for Harry Belafonte, from 1969 through 1972, playing on his extensive engagements in the main room of Caesar's Palace in Vegas.

Spider has also recorded with Freddie Hubbard, Robert Palmer, The Temptations, David Clayton-Thomas, Aretha Franklin, Grover Washington, Jr, Herb Alpert and Hugh Masekela, among others.

He knows just about everyone who's ever been anyone, and shares all in one of the most real and entertaining music memoirs you're ever going to read.
